St. Athanasius Church, Nichpur Village,
(4-807-058/72 E-ND) 1792?
The St. Athanasius Church in the village of Nichpur is a small single-nave church with a semicircular apse to the east. It is built of crushed stone with a gabled sheet metal roof. It has two entrances, on the west and south sides. The portals, shaped from carved stone, are semicircular in shape, as are the windows on the south side. In the lunette above the western portal is a marble cross with a dedication text, while in the lunette above the southern entrance is a marble slab with an dedication inscription and the representation of St. Athanasius. The church was built in the middle of the 19th century, and renovated and consecrated in 1997.
After the renovation, there are no traces of frescoes in the temple except in the nave, on the flat wooden ceiling, where a medallion with a waist-length representation of Jesus Christ Pantocrator “(ΙΗΣΟΥΣ ΗΡΙΣΤΟΣ Ο ΠΑΝΤΟΚΡΑΤΩΡ) “is placed, blessing with his right hand and holding a gospel in his left with the text “(John 8:12): ΕΓΩ ΕΙΝΗ/ ΤΟ ΦΩΣ ΤΥ/ ΚΟΣΜΟΥ Ο/ ΑΚΟΛΟΥ ΘΩΝ/ ΕΜΟΙ ΟΥ ΜΗ/ ΠΕΡΙΠΑΤΗ/ ΕΗ …./ ΣΚΟΤΙΑ/ ΑΛΛΟΙ/ ΤΟ ΦΟΣ/ ΤΗΣ ΖΩΗS †)”.
In the lower part of the medallion is written the dedication/gift from Grigoriy Evstratiev with the year of manufacture 1899: (ΑΦΙΕΡΩΜΑ. ΓΡΗΓΟΡΙΟΥ. ΕΥΣΤΡΑΤΙΟΥ). YEAR 1899. The iconostasis is two-story with a renovated wooden structure. There are registered icons in the church with numbers (7902-7926)
